Order & Reservation Alert Sounds
Configure audio alerts and screen flash notifications so you never miss a new order or reservation — directly in your browser tab.
How Alerts Work
Wehanda plays a sound alert in your browser tab when a new order is placed or a new reservation request arrives. This is separate from any email notifications — it is designed for the device where you have your dashboard open (a tablet or computer at your restaurant).
Alerts are browser-based, so you need the dashboard tab to be open for sounds to play. The tab does not need to be in focus — it can be in the background and sounds will still play.
Note: Some browsers require you to interact with the page first (click anything) before they allow audio to play. If you're not hearing alerts, click anywhere on the dashboard once to enable audio.
Configuring Alert Sounds
Go to Dashboard → Setup → Alert Sounds section.
There are separate settings for Orders and Reservations.
For each, you can choose:
No sound — completely silent. You rely on visual indicators only (a number badge on the Orders or Reservations menu item).
Ring a set number of times — the alert plays a set number of times (1–10). Set the number using the input that appears when you select this option. After ringing that many times, it stops.
Ring until acknowledged — the alert repeats every 3 seconds until you click anywhere on the page. Use this if you cannot always watch the screen — it ensures you never miss an order.
Click Test order sound or Test reservation sound to preview the sound before saving.
Screen Flash
In addition to sound, you can enable Screen flash — the entire browser window briefly flashes when a new alert arrives. This is useful if you have the dashboard visible across the room and want a visual cue.
Screen flash follows the same count and mode as the sound setting — if you set "ring 3 times", the screen also flashes 3 times.
Toggle screen flash independently for orders and reservations.
Multiple Devices
Alert sounds play on any device with the dashboard open. If you have the dashboard open on both a tablet and a laptop, both will play the alert.
