Delivery Without Drivers

Offer delivery without hiring a single driver — couriers from the DoorDash and Uber networks are dispatched automatically, and the customer pays the delivery fee.

How Delivery Works

Wehanda handles last-mile delivery through Nash, a dispatch service that automatically books a courier from the DoorDash and Uber driver networks — always picking the cheaper of the two for each order.

You never hire, schedule, or manage drivers. When a delivery order comes in, a professional courier is dispatched to your restaurant, timed to arrive when the food is ready.

The customer pays the delivery cost. At checkout, they enter their address and instantly see a live delivery quote for their exact distance. The fee is added to their total — it does not come out of your pocket, and Wehanda takes no commission on the order.

Requirements

Two things must be in place before delivery can be enabled:

  • Your address — set in Dashboard → Setup → Contact & Location. Couriers need to know where to pick up.
  • Stripe connected — delivery orders are prepaid by card (the courier booking depends on the payment), so connect Stripe first in Setup → Online Payments. See the Accepting Online Payments article.

Enabling Delivery

Go to Dashboard → Setup → Ordering Options and toggle on Delivery ("Deliver to customer address via Nash").

Once enabled (with Stripe connected), a Delivery settings section appears where you can configure:

Prep time — how many minutes your kitchen needs. Nash schedules the driver to arrive when your food is ready, so an accurate prep time means hot food and no waiting couriers. You can also override prep time per category or per item in Menu Management.

Delivery fee markup — an optional amount added on top of the courier's cost, shown to the customer as part of their delivery fee. The small Nash platform fee ($0.35) is included by default. Set the markup to $0 to charge customers only the actual courier cost.

What the Customer Experiences

  • They choose Delivery on your ordering page and enter their address at checkout.
  • A live quote appears within seconds — e.g., "🚗 Delivery available · $5.90 delivery fee." If no courier can serve that address, they're told delivery isn't available and can switch to pickup.
  • They pay by card; the order arrives on your dashboard like any other, marked as Delivery with the address and any dropoff instructions.
  • After checkout they get a Track your order page, which includes the courier's live tracking link once a driver is assigned.

Quotes are verified server-side, so the fee a customer sees is always the fee that's charged — it can't be tampered with.

Your Side of a Delivery Order

Treat it like any other order: accept it, prepare it, and mark it ready. The courier is dispatched and timed automatically based on your prep time.

Hand the order to the courier when they arrive — that's it. The customer's delivery experience (driver tracking, arrival updates) is handled by the courier network.

If a delivery quote expires while a customer sits on checkout too long, they're simply asked to refresh the quote before placing the order — you'll never receive an order with a stale delivery fee.
